Blog Tour ~ Clutch ~ Tess Oliver

Clutch by Tess Oliver
Released: 5th November 2013

Synopsis:

When Taylor Flinn’s parents shipped her off to an aunt for her last year of high school, James “Clutch” Mason had convinced himself it was for the best. Taylor, the wild, impulsive and far-too-appealing seventeen-year-old had been driving him nuts. Her school girl crush on him had been the last thing he needed. Now he had time to concentrate on his booming classic car part business, his new found love-- drag racing, and keeping his twenty-year-old brother Barrett out of trouble. But when Taylor returns from her aunt’s more grown up, utterly seductive, and attached to another guy, Clutch realizes that the only thing he ever needed or wanted was Taylor Flinn.

Teaser:

She came around the corner, unexpectedly and like a hurricane of stars. My mind went completely blank. I hung up and stuck the phone in my pocket.
Taylor’s long lashes curtained her smooth cheeks as she dropped her gaze.
The adrenaline rush left behind from getting my hands on a sixty-five Shelby morphed into an explosion of every emotion I’d ever felt. I lunged forward and grabbed her hand. She gasped as I dragged her around the back of the building. I pressed her up against the bricks and stared down at her.

Release date: December 13th 2013.

Synopsis:

I believe in love at first sight... because I am a mother. A mother’s love knows no laws, no boundaries, and no remorse for anyone who interferes with the life of a child.

I have lived a complete lie, holding on to a secret that could now cost me my daughter. I can’t lose Maddie. I couldn’t breathe without Maddie. Maddie is my life.

The saying about dying for your child is the absolute truth. The other things you would do are comparable to that of death. I know, I did those things. I did unthinkable things, all for Maddie. I continued the lie, the secrets with the one man who had no right, whom I despised and wanted dead.

I had no choice. I did it all for her... for my Maddie.

Excerpt:

I didn’t even notice him. Dana sat him in my section with his back turned. Him and his girlfriend or whatever she was, sat side by side and another couple sat across from them. I stupidly walked right up to the table with my green notepad.
“Can I start you with some drinks?” I asked as my eyes landed right on Alex’s. Shit.
“Do you have a wine list?” his female friend asked.
I wanted to laugh at her. This was a camp ground not a five star restaurant. “We have a house wine,” I offered, pointing to the Moscato red wine. “We have beer,” I said, catching Maddie, scooting a chair to the fish aquarium. I turned to see my dad talking to some guests with his back to her. I looked to see Dana laughing and talking with some other guests as she rang them out. Somebody needed to pay attention to Maddie.
“Excuse me,” I said, walking away as I watched her foot slip from the chair and hit the floor, followed by a loud shrill.
“Why can’t you listen for once?” I asked, picking her up. She clung to me and wailed. “You’re not hurt. It just scared you,” I said, rubbing circles around her back.
“Here, come to Papaw,” my dad said, trying to take her. She wailed again.
“NO! I want my mommy!” she cried out as I carried her toward the kitchen away from the spectators and Alex’s scrutinizing eyes that I was sure was on me.
“That thing has got to go,” I said, turning to my dad. I was so sick of that stupid fish aquarium it wasn’t even funny. “Are you hungry? I asked, trying to calm Maddie. “Do you want Jaron to make you a hot dog?”
“I want ice cream,” she decided, wiping tears down her face with her little fingers.
“No. No ice cream. How about a grilled cheese?”
“I want ice cream,” she howled.
“Take her,” I told my dad. I really did hope she wanted to go home with him. I needed to get turned up with some friends my own age.
I was never so happy to see Dianna in all my life. She was taking Alex and his party’s orders. I was getting the hell out of there. I walked over to take some empty plates from my last table and offer dessert.
“How was everything,” I asked as they moved their arms for me to take their plates.
“Great,” they all replied with the two men rubbing their full bellies.
“How about dessert? We have an awesome peanut butter pie tonight,” I offered.
“Yes,” the men stated, deciding they weren’t as full as they had initially thought. The two women declined.
“Would you like coffee?” I asked.
I walked toward the kitchen with a full arm, not missing the stare from Alex or my daughter sitting at the counter with a bowl of ice cream. I shook my head at my father. He shrugged as I continued to the kitchen.
“Can you get table 4 coffee?” I asked Dana as I placed the delicious looking pies on a tray.
“Sure. I think, we’re kidnapping Maddie for the night. She got two new movies for her birthday. Papaw promised we would watch them and make popcorn.”
“You can have her,” I teased, hoping she didn’t want to come home with me.
I stood at the end of the counter while Maddie ate her ice cream, smothered in gummy bears.
“I thought I told you no ice cream,” I said, looking up to see Alex’s eyes boring into me. What the hell? Maddie needed to hurry so we could get the hell out of there.
“Papaw teld me yes,” she assured me as she popped a red gummy bear into her mouth. “Dem is hard,” she giggled.
I smiled at her. She was so silly sometimes. “That’s because you froze them.”
“Dem will get warm in my belly,” she assured me. “You have one,” she offered. I opened my mouth and took the candy from her fingers.
“Yuck, Maddie. That’s gross. That’s like eating a flavored ice cube.”
“That not a ice cube,” she assured me.
“Are you coming home with mommy?”
“No. I watch a movie wif Papaw and Gammy. I eat popcorn.”
“You need to eat some supper.”
“My belly full.”
“Yeah, full of ice cream and candy. Are you done?”
Maddie nodded and slid off the stool. I swear that kid was fearless. It’s a good thing I was standing right there to catch her. I was sure she would have been screaming again.

Author Bio:

I hate author bio’s, so I’m just not gonna do it. I’m a rebel. I chose to ask my readers what they would like to know about me and this is what they came up with.

Vikki Ryan—I love that your books have a dark edge to them, what made you choose to write in that genre rather than romance.
I have tried to keep it PG, Vikki. I really have. My mind doesn’t seem to be able to keep it that way and quickly turns into rated for DG. (Dirty Girls Only.)

Monica Robinson—Oooohhh...What's your favorite naughty movie?
Well Mrs. Monica, the only one that comes to mind would be Original Sin with Angelina Jolie.

Danielle Chako—1) what was the first thing you ever wrote? Any age. Could be a short story, monologue, article...etc.
2) Do you get inspiration from other authors and if so who?
The first thing that I ever wrote was for a Christmas contest in the third grade. I won a very proud blue ribbon for that gay little story. I try not to read a lot when I am in writing mode. It turns out to be a disaster because I will change my whole writing style to whatever I am reading and end up rewriting A LOT. I do love to read, and I have many inspirations. CJ Roberts is one of my all-time favorites. I guess I like to read a little on the dark side as well.

Tiffany Abel—who is your favorite book villain and why? Does this character affect how you write a villain?
Oh, I’m a bad girl, but I have to say Caleb from Captive in the dark series. I hated and loved him at the same time.

Danielle Chilcott—what was going through your Mind when you were writing All for Maddie?
Maddie is quite the little character. Some of the things she said and did came from my own three kids, growing up. It made me reflect back to the toddler years and feel just a hint of nostalgia. I wouldn’t want to do it again, but they are so honest at that age.

Katie Cramer—Jettie ...hmmm. What makes u write the way you do? Personal experience? Desire? Dreams? What’s your inspiration?
You’re my inspiration Katie Cramer because you love my books. You ask why I write the way I do, I assume you mean the edge of my writing. I’m a dirty girl. That’s what I like to read and write. Personal experience? Hmmm. I did say I would answer truthfully, didn’t I? A lot of what I have written, like the things that Drew did in Underestimated was from fantasy and I am sure a lot of what I write comes from experience. You don’t stay married for 24 years by doing it missionary style. J

AMY NEASE—your books seem to always have a toy or two of ten. How many toys do you own with batteries?
Oh. Geesh. Good lord. A few.

Kayla Weiner—What do you have to have to write? (music, food, drink, etc...). What is always on your desk?
Coffee. Definitely a cup of coffee. A far as music, I am sort of living my second childhood. No. Wait. I haven’t grown up yet. Anything Pink, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, some rap, Adam Lavine, and anything with a nice beat.

Kaleigh Knight Jordan— if you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? And Why?
Hmmmm, that’s tough. I’m going to say CJ Roberts again because I would LOVE to get in her head, just to see if it’s as crazy as mine.

Crystal Barr—Where is your favorite place to write, and do you have a certain time that you prefer to write?
I have a beautiful desk that my husband bought for me overlooking an amazing view and I sit at my kitchen table, usually. I have an adjustable bed, so I write in bed a lot too with my hospital looking table and I write a lot at work as well. I tend to be most inspired early in the morning for whatever reason.

Candy Simpson—Who inspires you to write? What keeps you writing?
Hmmmm. I have many inspirers. My mom, my sister, Author M. Robinson, Crystal at A writers helping hand, Natalie, Alicia, Amy E, Megan, Julie Kerr, everyone who loves my writing and help me in any way they can, I guess. I keep writing because I love to write, I eat, sleep and breathe writing. I’m sure I would do it if everyone hated what I wrote.

Jessi Venture—You said you would answer anything sooooo. When you are writing you very steamy sex scenes, do you tend to get a little aroused yourself? I do reading them. I was just wondering if it has the same effect when you write about.
You’re a dirty girl. Definitely. That is probably a good thing for my readers. How do I explain this? It’s easier to talk about my characters. Put it this way. The friskier I feel, the kinkier the scene will be for you. J

Author Spotlight ~ J.L. Weil

·  Biography

I am the author of New Adult & Young Adult Paranormal Romances novels including the Amazon Best Sellers Luminescence Trilogy and Divisa series.
Most of my books are for ages 16+. They usually have what I consider the good stuff - sexual content (oh yeah) and swearing. You have been warned ;)
I reside in the Windy City with my husband and our two awesome boys. I am a book lover of epic proportions and usually favor romances, fantasies, and happily ever after’s. I have a serious addiction to Love Pink clothes and raspberry mochas from Starbucks. (yum!)
To seal my geekdom, I am a gamergirl. Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, Call of Duty, my current game obsessions. My boys think I'm a newb. And I am a total camper and proud of it.
I hope you enjoy my world!!

·  Five facts about me you don’t know
1. I am obsessed with tattoos and piercings. They can be found in almost all my stories.
2.  Jensen Ackles is my celebrity crush. *sigh*
3. I love Celtic, magical, mystical things – like faeries and faerie dust.
4. Green Bay Packers are my favorite team!
5. I’m shy and suck at chitchat.

·  Interests and hobbies
I enjoy most spending time with my family. My boys are so much fun. I also like writing of course, reading, and shopping (I’m a total girly-girl)

·  Books
Saving Angel
Losing Emma
Hunting Angel
Breaking Emma
Chasing Angel (2014)
Luminescence (re-release Nov. 15)
Amethyst Tears (re-release Dec. 20)
Moondust (2014)

·  If I could write with anyone it would be- (because)
Nora Roberts - I think her writing is utterly captivating, especially her older stuff. I love the Celtic elements in her books. My favorite ones are the ones involving witches. The romance she is able to bring to the pages swoons my romantic heart. Her writing is magic to me. I might add that I own every book she has written, which takes up quite a lot of space ;)

I am currently working on book 3 in my Divisa series titled Chasing Angel. My Luminescence series is being re-released this year by Nevermore Press.

Release Blitz ~ A Home For Christmas ~ Ann Vaughn

A Home for Christmas

Ann Vaughn

Publication: November 28, 2013

Synopsis

Single mom, Jenna Blackwell wasn’t having a very good start to the Christmas season; her purse got stolen on Black Friday. She’s cursing her luck and herself for even being out in the Black Friday madness when the store manager brings in Riley Stanton, a former Navy SEAL who chased down the thieves and recovered her purse. Jenna is blown away by Riley: his looks, his smile, the fact that he ran down the purse snatchers, everything.

Riley Stanton had no idea when he chased down the kids who stole a few purses that he would walk into a room and have his life changed forever. He looked into the eyes of Jenna and saw a strength in her that he found intriguing.

Riley soon learns that Jenna is everything he ever wanted in a woman. He falls for her and for her son harder than he expected to. Jenna is cautious but welcoming and hopes that she and her son can give Riley the one thing he hasn’t had in years, A Home for Christmas.

Excerpt #1:

Riley came over every evening after work. He helped Cam with his homework. he got there before she did on Wednesday and he and Cam had dinner ready by the time she got home. Jenna had to fight tears as she sat at the table. It had been so long since someone had cooked for her. To be honest, other than her mother, she didn't think anyone ever had. Wade, her ex, certainly never did. Watching Cam work so closely with Riley, having Riley there filling the role that Wade had abandoned, even sitting at a table with candlelight and roses and food she hadn't had to prepare...it was a lot for her to handle. She was barely hanging on by a thread and when Riley had initiated the blessing, she lost it. "Mom?" Cam asked, uncertain of what was happening. Jenna covered her face with her hands, silently crying. She heard the scrape of a chair and then suddenly Riley was there, his arms around her, lifting her from the chair. She heard him say something to Cam and then he carried her from the room.

He sat on the sofa and cradled her in his lap and just held her while she cried. After several minutes, when her tears had subsided somewhat, Riley reached down to cup her chin in his hand and lift her head so he could look into her eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "Nothing to be sorry about," he said, smoothing his hands over her cheeks to wipe her tears away.

"Mom?" Cam asked again, drawing her attention. "You OK?" "I'm good, bud, I'm sorry." Riley looked up at Cam and made eye contact with him. Jenna wasn't sure what passed between them, but Cam got up and left, leaving her there with Riley. "Look at me," he said, softly. When she raised her eyes to meet his gaze, he lifted her hand and kissed her knuckles. "What's going on?" She took a deep breath. "It's just...no one's ever done something like this for me before." "Like what? Take care of you?" She nodded. "Better get used to it, babe. I'm not going anywhere." She squeezed his hand, tears falling down her cheeks again. This time, Riley leaned forward and kissed them away before touching his lips to hers. For the first time, Jenna didn't hold herself back.

Maybe it was because Cam was just down the hall and she knew it couldn't get out-of-control. Whatever the case, she turned in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. "Thank you, Riley," she whispered when they pulled apart, pressing her forehead to his, and placing her fingertips against his lower lip. He nipped her fingertip lightly, then ran his tongue around her finger. "Anytime," he replied, "and I mean that. You don't have to do it all alone any more." "Riley," she whispered, kissing him, "please don't make promises you can't keep. My heart is fragile enough, but Cam..." He kissed her back. "Quit while you're ahead. Don't piss me off." She smiled and combed her fingers through the hair at his nape. "I'll try." "Good. Let me take care of you, Jenna.

You and Cam." She took a deep breath. "Tell you what. You're still here by Christmas? We'll talk," she said, giving him a final kiss then sliding off his lap. He watched her walk down the hall to Cam's room. Closing his eyes and letting his head fall back on the couch, he reached down to adjust himself in his jeans. For the first time since leaving the Navy, Riley felt like he wasn't just spinning his wheels.

Excerpt #2

Riley followed Cam into the living room and through the crowd so that they were standing at the front of the ring of people who had gathered around Jacke's piano, his mother on his right and Jenna's mother on his left. "Ladies and gentlemen," Jenna's father began, "I want to thank you for coming tonight. It is an honor and a joy to see so many of you in our home to celebrate this wonderful, joyous season with us. The wait staff is coming around with trays of champagne. Please, take a glass, and as they have done every year since they were five years old, allow my beautiful daughters to wish you and yours a wonderful, Merry Christmas." Jackie began to play as polite applause lauded their father's speech. Riley's eyes were locked on Jenna as the lights were dimmed and she was illuminated only by the twinkling of Christmas lights and the flames from the candles in the room. When she began to sing "O Holy Night", a chill ran through him at the purity and clarity of her voice.

She sounded, in his opinion, like an angel. Her voice was soft and sweet and reminded him of the times he'd heard the Celtic Woman group perform. When she hit the high note at the end, his breath caught. She was incredible. He placed his hand over his heart and flashed a bright smile to her when she finished, making her give a slight giggle. "This next song," she announced, "has been on my heart since I met this handsome sailor," she said, gesturing to him. "The other night, we were talking about the Christmases he spent in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, and even once in Bethlehem while in the Service, and how he missed being home for Christmas so many years. So, Riley, this one is for you." Jackie began playing, and then, singing in a completely different voice than she had the previous song, she locked eyes with him. Her voice was sultry as she sang, "I'm dreaming tonight, of a place I love, even more than I usually do. And although, I know, it's a long road back, I promise you...I'll be Home for Christmas..."

Beside him, his mother placed her hand on his bicep. he reached over to touch her hand, but could not tear his gaze away from Jenna. When she finished, proper or not, he stepped forward and drew her into his arms, giving her a brief, tender kiss in front of the assembled crowd. "Thank you," he whispered softly into her ear. "I love you, Riley," she whispered back. He kissed her brow and started to step away but she held him to her with an arm around his waist. "We have one final song. Thank you for spending your evening with our family." Once again, Jackie began playing, and this time, with Riley at her side, Jenna sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Riley had his hand on her back and could feel the notes reverberating through her as she sang. He was so impressed with her singing; her voice was beautiful, different with all three songs that she sang. Sweet, sultry, soft and gentle all mixed together. He was so unbelievably turned on he was afraid the whole room would know. When she finished singing, she turned into him once more, kissing his cheek when he leaned down to whisper, "You're amazing," into her ear.

About  the Author

Ann Vaughn is a Native Texan now living in Oklahoma. She's been writing since the seventh grade (many MANY moons ago) when she and her friends were obsessed with the Sweet Valley High series. Back then, access to books wasn't as easy as it is now, so to tide her over between SVH releases, she began writing her own, Texas versions of SVH, full of lots of Texas Friday Night Lights and pitfalls and perils of teenage life in the 80s. Writing has always been a comfort and a release for her, though she never expected to be published. It wasn't until a conversation with her husband about the rise of eBooks that she decided to try her hand at self-publishing. It was scary and exciting and ever since the release of her first book, Long Way Home on August 7, 2013 she has been on a wild roller coaster ride that she wouldn't trade for the world.
